What guests say
All reviews →“AMAZING children's area! Great play stations and book selection. Clean environment. Friendly staff. Highly recommend if you're visiting downtown Madison!”
“Great library. It has a pretty solid collection, with tons of space to work. They provide a lot of great services to homeless people, so if you are bothered by noise I would recommend bringing headphones if you need to focus. The librarians are always helpful and will help you troubleshoot if you are having trouble with anything, and the space is generally well-kept.”
“Had my wedding ceremony upstairs in the third floor. Gorgeous setting, unique, and very personal to my husband and I because we love to read. Our guests loved the space, it was very comfortable and accessible. The library event staff were so professional and so helpful—they offered tips, recommendations, and were flexible as we pulled together logistics for the day. Can’t recommend this space enough for weddings.”
“Beautiful library, great architecture, study rooms, HUGE amount of books. Library wise- this place is great. So many places for kids to play, too. The staff are so kind as well. However, upon arrival I noticed that this is where many homeless people spend their time during the day. Everyone spoke at full volume, with people playing loud music on their phones. As a female college student, I did not feel safe to spend most of my day studying there as I do most places in Madison. College students, study at the university libraries. Madison residents, go to any other library. Awesome library, not great visitors.”
“A great library and community space! The building has lots of natural light and study/reading spaces. My first stop is always the "Too Good to Miss" tables on the main floor - such great recommendations”
